It is estimated that fewer than 3,000 of each of these species remain in the wild, and while the zoo has been successful in breeding these animals, further progress requires that a new exhibit be established, within which, more conducive breeding environments can be created.

The exhibit will house these three species as well as other species from the Asian region.

Companies and Individuals can help guarantee their future

Corporate and community financial support is needed to help Adelaide Zoo help endangered species.

Your donations are vital and will allow Adelaide Zoo to improve old exhibits and embark further on animal husbandry activities designed to ensure the best possible breeding conditions for endangered species.

To show our appreciation of your help, the Zoo is offering to “cast your name in stone” on the Zoo’s new Millennium Walk.

Your company or family name, or just about any design you like, will be placed on the main pathway for all to see for many years to come.

Already key organisations, including SA Water, 5ADFM, Channel 10, McDonalds and Sunsmart, as well as many individuals have committed to supporting the Millennium Walk. Should you lend your support, you will be in good company.

The Adelaide Zoo Millennium Walk, A permanent Record of your Generosity

The Adelaide Zoo Millennium Walk will be a specially designed brick-paved walkway leading from the front gate to the heritage rotunda. The Zoo’s in-house designer, Janette Moore, the artist responsible for the recently unveiled statue of Dame Roma Mitchell, will play a major role in ensuring the Walk will be both functional and artistic in form – a key piece of landscape art.

All donors supporting this Adelaide Zoo-thousand project will be recognised on the Millennium Walk.

$1,000 sponsors will be recognised with a 12 paver logo, with your choice of design, plus a donor recognition certificate for your home or office wall.

$100 donors will be recognised with a single paver, with your choice of design, plus a donor recognition certificate for your wall.

Royal Zoological Society of South Australia members who donate $90 will be recognised with a single paver, with your choice of design, plus a donor recognition certificate for your wall.

Individuals who donate to the paver program prior to 31 December 1999 and become members of the Royal Zoological Society of SA at the same time, will save $5.00 on their RZSSA joining fee.

They will also be eligible to pay the member’s price for their paver.
